Clean Up Rhyme (free printable!)

Are you at your wit's end with all the toys cluttering up your house? Do you feel like you're constantly nagging your child to pick up after his or herself?

That was me last week, so I whipped up this little printable to hang up and do some of the nagging for me...

Back when I was in the classroom, I learned how helpful visuals could be as reminders to my students.

So when I'd had an especially wearying day of wading through the "stuff stream" flowing across what seemed like every surface in our house, I decided I needed to come up with a new tool for times like these...

I could tell Gv to pick up her toys until I was blue in the face, but maybe hanging a cute reminder on the wall would be more effective.

Gv and I came up with this little rhyme and then I hunted down some cute graphics.  I printed it out to fit in a 5x7 frame I'd had hanging around from the dollar store and then Gv chose where to hang it in her room.

Now, whenever I notice that she's finished with a certain activity and is moving on to the next, I simply walk her over to the sign and ask her to tell me what it says.

She giggles and repeats the rhyme, then goes back and picks up her toys.

It might not work every time - or even indefinitely, but it's working like a charm for now and hey, that's just fine with me!
